The latest surge in donations came during last week's Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Harris collected an impressive $82 million.

The success of Harris' convention speech on Thursday night translated into a generous influx of funds, making it the campaign's most successful fundraising hour to date. In a memo released by Harris campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon, it was revealed that one-third of the donations received during the convention came from first-time donors. Notably, two-thirds of these new contributors were women, showcasing the appeal Harris has among female voters. The campaign also highlighted that teachers and nurses were among the most common occupations of the donors.

Harris' fundraising prowess has been remarkable since she officially entered the race after President Joe Biden dropped out on July 21. The $540 million raised in just one month represents the highest amount ever collected during a single month in presidential campaign history. This impressive figure includes contributions received by the Democratic National Committee as well as other joint fundraising committees linked to the Harris campaign.

Joint fundraising committees play a crucial role in Harris' fundraising strategy, enabling supporters to navigate federal contribution limits by donating to independent Super PACs that align with her campaign. Harris' campaign team expressed gratitude for the funds raised, emphasizing their plans to utilize the resources and enthusiasm to build momentum leading up to Labor Day.

Not only has Harris demonstrated her fundraising prowess, but she has also surpassed former President Donald Trump's campaign in July fundraising. The Harris campaign's main fundraising committee reported a staggering $204 million to the Federal Election Commission, almost four times the amount raised by the Trump campaign, which reported $48 million during the same period. This significant gap in fundraising can be attributed to the surge of Democratic enthusiasm that followed the launch of Harris' campaign.

When combined with fundraising committees aligned with her campaign, Harris managed to raise a grand total of $310 million in July, dwarfing the $138 million raised by Trump and his allies. This impressive financial backing has coincided with Harris' upward trajectory in polling, where she has managed to surpass Trump in several battleground states. Although the race remains tight, Harris' strong performance shows promise for her campaign moving forward.

The record-breaking fundraising achievements of Vice President Kamala Harris have solidified her position as a formidable contender in the presidential race. With her sights set on Labor Day and beyond, Harris aims to continue utilizing her resources and enthusiasm to gain further momentum as the election draws near.
