**Kamala Harris Prepares for Potential Trump Declarations Ahead of Election Night**
In a recent interview with NBC News' Hallie Jackson, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed that her campaign is readying itself for the possibility that former President Donald Trump might declare victory before all votes are counted next month. The discussion took place at Harris’s official residence in the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Harris acknowledged that the campaign anticipates challenges, including attempts by Trump to undermine the election results. "We will deal with election night and the days after as they come, and we have the resources and the expertise and the focus on that," she assured.
When asked about the likelihood of Trump declaring victory prematurely, Harris did not hide her concerns. Referencing the events of January 6, she stated, "This is a person, Donald Trump, who tried to undo the free and fair election, who still denies the will of the people, who incited a violent mob to attack the United States Capitol, and 140 law enforcement officers were attacked, some who were killed. This is a serious matter."
Trump's refusal to concede the 2020 election, coupled with his persistent allegations of massive voter fraud — which have no evidence — continues to cast a shadow over the current electoral process. "The American people are, at this point, two weeks out, being presented with a very, very serious decision about what will be the future of our country," Harris emphasized.
For months, Trump has been asserting, without evidence, that the election is rigged against him. He has accused various institutions and individuals of interference, urging his supporters that he needs to win by a margin "too big to rig." Experts warn that these claims could potentially mobilize Trump’s supporters to challenge the election's legitimacy in its aftermath.
With the election just two weeks away, both Harris and Trump find themselves in a closely contested race, with polls indicating a neck-and-neck competition nationally and in seven pivotal battleground states. Harris has notably increased her media engagement after a relatively quiet period following her nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate in July.
