According to a high-ranking aide, Harris emphasized the significance of a smooth transition of power and urged Trump to serve as a leader for all Americans.

President Joe Biden is set to address the nation on Thursday to discuss the recent election outcomes and outline plans for the transition. Earlier in the day, Biden personally congratulated both Harris on her historic campaign and Trump on his electoral triumph. In a gesture of goodwill, Biden has also invited Trump to meet with him at the White House to discuss the transition, with staff coordinating the specifics of the meeting date.

Trump's victory marks a remarkable political resurgence, as he managed to secure all seven key battleground states, earning him the necessary 270 electoral votes to clinch the presidency. This win underscores his decisive comeback in the political arena.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris will be speaking at Howard University, an institution she proudly calls her alma mater, at 4 p.m. today. Howard University hosted a watch party on Election night, and Harris was initially expected to address attendees immediately following the results. However, the final results were only confirmed during the early hours of the morning. Had she won, Harris would have made history as the first graduate from a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to become president.

Swapna Venugopal Ramaswamy, the White House Correspondent for USA TODAY, continues to provide in-depth coverage on these developments.
