Vice President Kamala Harris is set to bring a lively and engaging atmosphere to Chicago next week, offering a range of activities and experiences for the general public at the McCormick Place convention center. Dubbed "DemPalooza," this daytime programing is aimed at sharing the excitement of the campaign trail and fostering connections among Democrats and supporters.

Unlike the nightly televised events taking place at the United Center for credentialed delegates, "DemPalooza" is open to all interested individuals without requiring any credentials. Party officials have emphasized that this event is designed to be inclusive and accessible, encouraging everyone to participate and enjoy the festivities.

Roger Lau, deputy executive director of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), described "DemPalooza" as a vibrant gathering that embodies the spirit of celebration. "It's a party and everyone is invited," Lau stated.

In an effort to attract and engage voters, Democrats and independent groups have been utilizing various tactics this year. These have included dance parties, concerts, complimentary beer, and even birth control giveaways. The Biden-Harris campaign has also been successful in drawing in voters through activities such as bracelet making and bingo nights.

"DemPalooza" is set to coincide with regularly scheduled meetings of 33 Democratic Party caucuses and councils. These gatherings are expected to feature notable speakers, including Senators Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.). Additionally, governors from Maryland, New Mexico, and Massachusetts are also scheduled to address various groups at the convention center. Representative Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.), the youngest member of Congress, and Maryland Democratic Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks are among other notable attendees.

Unlike the arena events that are exclusive to credentialed attendees, "DemPalooza" offers a range of free and accessible activities open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The event promises a space for live podcast tapings and other performances. Moreover, it serves as a hub for the Harris campaign officials to provide training and briefings to the public.

Titles of some of these briefings include "Cultivating a Unified Vision: Embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Progressive Politics," "Investing in Communities: Biden-Harris Infrastructure Success Stories," and "Everything You Need to Know About Trump's Project 2025 Agenda," despite Trump's distancing himself from Project 2025, an initiative by the Heritage Foundation.

In addition to organizing training for volunteers, "DemPalooza" features an expo and vendor space showcasing various aspects of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. The event also promises a unique opportunity for attendees to receive a "Kamala Harris" manicure, although details about this special treatment remain undisclosed.

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison expressed his enthusiasm for "DemPalooza," stating, "We are bringing together thought leaders, advocates, grassroots supporters, and every day Americans who want to get involved in our democratic process ahead of the most consequential election of our lifetime." He emphasized that the event would provide a platform for thousands of Democratic leaders from across the country to network, train, exchange ideas, and mobilize voters and volunteers.
