Juvenile Hospitalized After Shooting near Waterfront Park in Louisville

A juvenile was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the stomach near Waterfront Park in Louisville on Saturday night. Reports of the incident, which occurred around 10:15 p.m. after the conclusion of Thunder Over Louisville, were received by Louisville Metro Police just before 10:30 p.m.

According to a statement from LMPD Spokesperson Aaron Ellis, officers discovered a teenage male with a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene, which was the Purple Lot, a parking lot directly under Interstate 65 near the Waterfront. Fortunately, the victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He was swiftly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment.

In response to the incident, LMPD officers, along with personnel from Kentucky State Police and EMS crews, quickly mobilized to the area. To aid in the investigation, LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit has taken charge of the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.

To facilitate the investigation and clear the area, River Road near downtown Louisville will remain closed while officers continue their work. LMPD appeals to the public for any information related to the shooting. Individuals with tips or leads can contact LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD (5679). Alternatively, tips can be submitted anonymously through the department's Crime Tip Portal.

The incident has left the Louisville community concerned about the safety of the area, particularly during large events like Thunder Over Louisville.
