A Jordanian citizen residing in Orlando, Florida, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including threatening to use explosives and destruction of an energy facility. Hashem Younis Hashem Hnaihen is currently being held in custody as the legal case proceeds.

According to court records, Hnaihen is accused of vandalizing businesses in the Orlando area by smashing windows and leaving threatening letters. The letters warned of his intent to destroy or explode establishments in the United States, specifically those believed to support the state of Israel.

In addition to targeting businesses, Hnaihen allegedly attacked a solar panel farm, destroying panels and cutting wires with a high level of precision. Prosecutors argued in a detention memo that these actions demonstrated a premeditated and sophisticated approach.

Authorities uncovered evidence suggesting that Hnaihen attempted to purchase a firearm and falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen during the process. However, his lack of citizenship was discovered during a background check, preventing him from obtaining the weapon.

Prosecutors have alerted the presiding judge about the escalating nature of Hnaihen's alleged threats and destruction over recent weeks. In fact, just two days prior to his arrest, an identical copy of one of Hnaihen's threatening letters was discovered at an industrial propane gas depot in Orlando. Although no damage was found, the facility's operations were significantly disrupted, necessitating the intervention of a fire department hazmat team.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are awaiting final fingerprint analysis in connection with the incident at the propane gas depot. CNN has sought comment from Hnaihen's defense lawyer, but no response has been obtained yet.

Given the gravity of the charges and the concerns raised by prosecutors about the escalating nature of Hnaihen's alleged actions, the judge has ordered that he be held behind bars pending further developments in the case.

This troubling series of events serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining peace and security within communities, while also underscoring the significance of law enforcement and vigilant citizens in thwarting potential threats.
