**JJ Watt Criticizes Controversial Taunting Call Against CeeDee Lamb in Cowboys-Giants Clash**
During a recent Dallas Cowboys' 20-15 victory over the New York Giants on "Thursday Night Football," a controversial taunting penalty against CeeDee Lamb sparked criticism from former NFL star and current CBS analyst JJ Watt. The call came after Lamb's impressive 55-yard touchdown, a pivotal play in the game.
Watt, expressing his frustration on the social media platform X, stated, "These taunting calls are getting out of hand. You're telling me that was worthy of a penalty?!" The penalty was issued after Lamb, having already turned around to glance at Giants cornerback Deonte Banks as he approached the end zone, lightly tossed the football in Banks' direction.
This contentious decision falls in line with a stricter enforcement policy from the league, initiated three years ago through a memo aimed at penalizing "acts of disrespect," including minor taunts. Yet, for many observers like Watt, this particular call seemed excessive and unwarranted.
Despite the penalty, Lamb had a stellar performance, achieving season-highs with seven receptions and 98 receiving yards, along with the touchdown. He also contributed eight yards on the ground from three carries, marking his first 100 all-purpose yards game of the 2024 season.
The Cowboys' victory ended a two-game losing streak, boosting their record to 2-2. Meanwhile, the Giants fell to 1-3. Looking ahead, the Cowboys face the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Monday night game, whereas the Giants will travel to Seattle for a Sunday matchup against the Seahawks. The Seahawks will be coming off a shorter rest period following their own "Monday Night Football" game against the Detroit Lions.
