In a surprising move, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams, marking his second fresh start in as many years. The 32-year-old has switched teams, leaving the Las Vegas Raiders to join the Rams this offseason in California. However, Garoppolo's debut with his new team will be delayed as he serves a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) during his time with the Raiders.

Speaking at a press conference, Garoppolo admitted to his mistake, explaining that he "messed up" the TUE shortly after his arrival in Las Vegas. The NFL grants TUEs to players for the "use of a prohibited substance to treat an appropriately diagnosed medical problem," subject to the discretion of the independent administrator and medical advisor for the policy and program for substances of abuse. The league permits retroactive approval of a TUE only under emergency circumstances.

While Garoppolo is still allowed to participate in the Rams' offseason plans, including training camp and preseason games, he will miss the first two regular season games due to his suspension. Despite this setback, the two-time Super Bowl winner is determined to take his suspension "in stride" and plans to make the most of his time with the team during the offseason.

Garoppolo expressed optimism about the upcoming season, hoping to help the Rams achieve a strong start by going "2-0" in his absence. He acknowledged the situation, stating that he will deal with it and stay positive. The quarterback is set to join the Rams as the backup to starter Matthew Stafford. Notably, Garoppolo has experience in this role, having served as a backup quarterback to Tom Brady during his time with the New England Patriots, winning Super Bowl XLIX and LI.

Excited for his new journey, Garoppolo is eager to reset and reinvent himself with the Rams. Despite uncertainty, he voiced his love for football and his enthusiasm to get back on the field, throwing passes to his new teammates. Garoppolo's previous stints with the San Francisco 49ers and an injury-plagued year with the Raiders have prepared him for this fresh start, as he looks forward to making a positive impact with the Rams.

As Garoppolo serves his suspension, the Rams will rely on Matthew Stafford as their starting quarterback. The team remains optimistic about their prospects for the upcoming season, and with Garoppolo joining their ranks, they aim to build a strong and formidable roster for success on the field.

Garoppolo's journey with the Rams begins as he navigates through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With his experience, talent, and determination, he has the potential to make a significant impact as part of the Rams' quest for victory in the upcoming NFL season.
