In a shocking report released by Israeli human rights group B'Tselem, testimonies from 55 Palestinians, including 21 from the Gaza Strip, have shed light on the inhumane treatment and torture endured by prisoners in Israeli jails. The report titled "Welcome to Hell" exposes the conversion of several Israeli prison facilities into a network of camps dedicated to the abuse and torment of inmates, particularly since the outbreak of Israel's war on Gaza.

According to B'Tselem's findings, these prison spaces function as torture camps, intentionally subjecting inmates to severe and relentless pain and suffering. The violations listed in the report are harrowing and include frequent acts of severe violence, sexual assault, humiliation, deliberate starvation, unhygienic conditions, sleep deprivation, and denial of religious worship. Prisoners' belongings are confiscated, and they are denied adequate medical treatment.

Tragically, the report highlights that at least 60 Palestinians, including 48 individuals from Gaza, have lost their lives while in Israeli custody since October 7. The testimonies collected demonstrate a systemic and institutional policy aimed at the continual abuse and torture of all Palestinian prisoners. The report attributes this policy to Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, with the full support of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Consequently, B'Tselem concludes that Israel's actions amount to torture that qualifies as a war crime and even a crime against humanity. The group urges the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate individuals suspected of planning, directing, and perpetrating these crimes. Moreover, B'Tselem asserts that any internal investigation within Israel is not viable due to the mobilization of state systems, including the judiciary, in support of these torture camps.

Another troubling revelation by B'Tselem is the doubling of the number of Palestinians held in Israeli jails, reaching 9,623 since the commencement of the war on Gaza. The organization appeals to nations, international institutions, and bodies to take immediate action to halt the brutalities inflicted upon Palestinians by the Israeli prison system. Furthermore, B'Tselem calls for the recognition of the Israeli regime operating these systems as an apartheid regime that must be dismantled.

The release of B'Tselem's report uncovers the abhorrent conditions and numerous human rights violations faced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The call for accountability and an end to such cruel practices resonates strongly, as nations and international bodies must address these atrocities committed against the Palestinian population.
