Syrian state media has reported explosions above Hama on Friday night, attributing them to an Israeli airstrike. According to the Syrian state news agency, seven civilians were wounded during Israeli strikes on Syria's central region. The pro-Assad Sham FM station initially reported the sound of explosions and shared footage of smoke in Hama, which has since circulated online.

Citing Arab media, Maariv reports that the Syrian air defense system is attempting to address what it claims to be hostile targets in the center of the country. The Syrian defense ministry released a statement, stating that their air defenses successfully shot down some of the Israeli rockets. "The aggression resulted in seven civilians being injured and caused material damage," the statement read.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the strike in Syria. The nature of the alleged hostile targets and the extent of the material damage caused remain undisclosed.

Tensions in the region have been simmering for years due to the ongoing conflict in Syria and the involvement of various regional and international actors. Israel has carried out several airstrikes in Syria over the past years, often targeting Iranian forces and their proxies who are deemed a threat to Israeli security. These strikes are typically not acknowledged by Israel.

The exact circumstances surrounding the recent Israeli airstrikes and the motivations behind them are yet to be fully revealed. As the situation unfolds, the international community will closely monitor the developments and their potential implications for regional stability.
