In a troubling development, five Palestinian men have reportedly lost their lives in an Israeli air strike in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday in the city of Tubas, where a car was targeted, resulting in the deaths of the five men. Two others were injured in the attack.

According to the Israeli military, the air strike was directed at an "armed terrorist cell," a claim backed by armed groups that have identified the deceased as fighters. In addition to this strike, reports from Palestinian media highlight the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy who was shot by Israeli forces in the nearby al-Faraa refugee camp.

The Israeli military issued a statement confirming the operation, stating that their forces engaged in an exchange of fire with a terrorist armed with an explosive device in al-Faraa camp. They also mentioned a successful strike against other individuals during the operation.

Over the past nine days, Israeli forces have been carrying out raids in various northern cities as part of a large-scale counter-terrorism operation. The ongoing violence has claimed the lives of at least 36 Palestinians so far, as reported by the health ministry. Out of this number, 21 were from Jenin governorate, and eight from Tubas.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that their soldiers, along with Israel Prison Service forces, initiated an operation in Tubas and al-Faraa camp on Wednesday night. Among the casualties, Mohammed Zakaria Zubeidi, 21, stands out as a significant figure, described by the IDF as "a significant terrorist from the Jenin area." He was the son of Zakaria Zubeidi, the imprisoned former leader of the Fatah movement's armed wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, and allegedly involved in a jailbreak last year.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades released a statement confirming the death of Mohammed Zubeidi and four other fighters, condemning the Israeli strike as "treacherous." The Palestinian Red Crescent has also corroborated reports of the shooting death of the 16-year-old boy, Majed Fida Abu Zeina, with evidence suggesting that he was shot multiple times before his body was removed by a military bulldozer.

In a separate incident, the Israeli military reported that three Palestinians were killed in the southern governorate of Hebron within the past nine days. One of these individuals allegedly carried out a shooting attack that resulted in the deaths of three Israeli police officers near Tarqumiyah on Sunday.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has emphasized the need for the IDF to employ their "full strength" in the face of what he labels as a "resurgence of terrorism" in the West Bank. The recent wave of violence escalated following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7 and the subsequent conflict in Gaza.

In more positive news, a campaign to vaccinate children in the region has been successful during localized pauses in the fighting, with over 161,000 children receiving inoculations after the first confirmed case of a disease outbreak in Gaza in 25 years.
