Israel has persisted with its military operation in Rafah, defying the recent order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to halt the attacks. The southernmost part of Gaza continues to bear the brunt of the offensive, resulting in multiple deaths and widespread destruction.

According to reports from Al Jazeera's Hani Mahmoud, Israel targeted the Shaboura camp and areas near the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah on Saturday. The hospital, the only one in Rafah governorate still receiving patients, issued an urgent appeal for fuel deliveries to ensure its continued operation. Several individuals injured in the bombardment were reportedly transferred to the hospital for treatment.

The ICJ ruling, which marked the third of its kind this year, highlighted the "immense risk" faced by the 1.4 million Palestinians seeking shelter in Rafah. Since the start of the offensive on May 7, more than 800,000 Palestinians have been forced to flee the region. The court's aim is to reduce the mounting death toll among Palestinians and alleviate the humanitarian crisis faced by Gaza's 2.3 million inhabitants, including severe hunger and internal displacement.

Despite the ICJ's order, Israel has shown no signs of diverting from its course. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the ruling, dismissing charges of genocide brought by South Africa as "false, outrageous, and morally repugnant." In response to Israel's defiance, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories called for sanctions to be imposed on Israel.

The attacks were not limited to Rafah. Al Jazeera journalists reported that Israel also struck a school in Gaza's as-Saftawi neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of at least ten people and injuring seventeen others. Additionally, a house in the northern city of Beit Hanoon was bombed, claiming the lives of ten people, including women and children.

Inhabitants of other neighborhoods in Gaza City, such as Sheikh Ajlin, Tal al-Hawa, and Zeitoun, also faced heavy shelling. While the exact casualty figures in these areas remain unknown, the situation continues to escalate in northern Gaza.

Amidst the ongoing assaults, Israeli troops have surrounded Kamal Adwan Hospital, preventing incoming patients from receiving crucial medical assistance. Despite efforts by the hospital's head of pediatrics to reach out to the Red Cross and UNICEF, there is uncertainty regarding any intervention to end the siege.

In addition to the attacks on populated areas, Israeli quadcopters targeted Palestinians gathering in Wadi Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals. Wadi Gaza has become a meeting point for those in desperate need of aid, especially as Gaza's population faces famine and limited access to supplies.

The situation is further compounded by the partial destruction of the floating pier near Gaza City, which hampers aid truck deliveries. Furthermore, Israeli troops have taken control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, further hindering sporadic aid deliveries.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) recently announced the suspension of food distribution in Rafah due to insufficient supplies and inadequate security in the densely populated city.

As the violence continues to escalate, urgent calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian relief are being made. The suffering endured by the people of Gaza has reached a critical point, urging immediate action from the international community to bring an end to this devastating situation.
