In a recent missile attack by Iran on Israel, it has been reported that nearly half of the missiles launched failed due to technical issues, while the remaining rockets were intercepted by US forces. According to a senior US Air Force officer who spoke anonymously to The Intercept, out of the over 330 missiles and armed drones fired by the Iranian military on Saturday night, only around 165 successfully took off and were aimed at Israel.

The source revealed that roughly 50% of the weapons fired by Iran malfunctioned during launch or mid-flight due to technical difficulties, based on US intelligence estimates. After the misfiring missiles, it was US forces and not Israeli air defenses that managed to intercept the majority of the remaining rockets. The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that only about nine missiles reached Israeli territory, resulting in one reported injury, a 7-year-old girl.

Despite the relatively low damage inflicted, Iranian officials claim that their attack had achieved its intended goals. However, more than 80 rockets were reportedly shot down by US aircraft, with additional assistance from British, French, and Jordanian aircraft, as well as American warships stationed in the Mediterranean.

President Biden, shortly after the attack, stated that US forces had successfully neutralized "nearly all" of the Iranian rockets. The Israeli Air Defense Forces also confirmed that the vast majority of the rockets were intercepted before reaching Israeli airspace, further minimizing potential damage.

The tension in the Middle East has heightened since the attack, with Israel vowing to retaliate, and Iran warning of even stronger reprisals if provoked. Iranian officials, speaking to the Arab outlet Al-Mayadeen News, stated their readiness to employ previously unused weapons in their response.

Recent reports from Israeli media suggest that the nation's air force is already preparing for a potential strike against Iran as early as this week. As the situation continues to develop, the region remains on edge, with a potential escalation looming between the two nations.

Overall, the missile attack launched by Iran witnessed several technical issues causing a significant portion of the rockets to fail, and subsequent interceptions by US forces thwarting the remaining missiles, minimizing the impact on Israel.
