An investigation has been launched following the tragic death of Enrique Delgado-Garcia, a Massachusetts State Police recruit who passed away after experiencing a medical crisis during a defensive tactics training exercise. The Worcester County District Attorney's Office has confirmed that they are reviewing all aspects of the matter.

Delgado-Garcia, aged 25, became unresponsive during the exercise that took place at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree. Immediate medical attention was provided by the academy's on-site medical team, who determined that Delgado-Garcia required urgent care. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Heartbroken and seeking answers, Delgado-Garcia's family members are demanding an explanation of how a training exercise could have resulted in fatal injuries, including severe brain trauma. According to his mother, Sandra Garcia, he was hit and injured during the exercise. She expressed her desire for the state to clarify the circumstances surrounding her son's death.

The incident has raised concerns among Delgado-Garcia's friends, who lament the treatment of recruits by the Massachusetts State Police. They believe a thorough investigation is necessary to ensure justice is served, as such incidents could potentially happen to anyone's loved ones.

The specific details of the defensive tactics training exercise that Delgado-Garcia participated in have not been disclosed by the state police spokesperson. However, it is known that Delgado-Garcia, a resident of Worcester, had entered the training program in April and was expected to graduate on October 9.

Delgado-Garcia was an esteemed individual who previously worked as a victim witness advocate in the Worcester County District Attorney's Office. During a bilingual ceremony, he was granted his Trooper Badge and took an oath of office administered by civilian commissioners, as per Massachusetts state law.

In an effort to maintain impartiality, District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. acknowledged that his office cannot carry out an objective investigation due to Delgado-Garcia's prior employment with them. He is in the process of handing over the investigation to an external entity but has not yet announced the recipient. State police detectives will continue investigating until the transfer is completed.

The State Police Association of Massachusetts has directed inquiries about the incident to the state police department. Colonel John Mawn Jr., representing the state police, expressed condolences and emphasized their commitment to providing support to Delgado-Garcia's family, friends, and fellow recruits during this difficult time.

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll expressed their sorrow over the loss of Delgado-Garcia. Describing him as a compassionate individual dedicated to serving others, they offered their condolences to his family and the close-knit State Police community.

As the investigation unfolds, many are awaiting further information on the circumstances surrounding Delgado-Garcia's tragic death. The Worcester County District Attorney's office continues to actively review the case, striving for a thorough understanding of the incident.
