Indiana Fever coach, Christie Sides, has called on the WNBA to take action after rookie guard Caitlin Clark was fouled hard by Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter during the Fever's narrow victory over Chicago at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Following the game, Sides expressed her frustration on X, formerly known as Twitter, directly addressing the league and labeling the fouls on Clark as "unacceptable." She tweeted, "This is unacceptable @WNBA. When will the consistent complaints be heard?!? Something has to be done!" Sides' plea attracted attention from fans and colleagues alike.

The incident occurred with just 15.8 seconds remaining in the third quarter during an inbounds play by the Fever. Carter, who had recently made a mid-range jump shot, aggressively collided with Clark, sending her to the ground. Despite the forcefulness of the foul, officials deemed it a common foul and did not review the play.

Clark, during a sideline interview at the end of the quarter, expressed her disappointment, stating that Carter's actions were "not a basketball play." Sides, conscious of potential fines, jokingly stated that she was trying to avoid them while emphasizing the need for the league to review plays involving Clark.

"We're just going to keep sending these possessions to the league, and these plays, and hopefully they'll start taking a better look at some of the things that we see happening, or we think is happening," Sides asserted. She also commended Clark for handling the situation with resilience, acknowledging the repeated physicality she endures without getting rewarded with foul calls or free throws.

The WNBA, in response to the incident, upgraded Carter's foul on Clark to a Flagrant 1 after conducting a review. The decision to elevate the severity of the foul demonstrates the league's commitment to player safety and fairness.

Next, the Indiana Fever, along with Caitlin Clark, will face off against the New York Liberty on Sunday night. It remains to be seen whether the heightened attention on Clark's foul will prompt the WNBA to strengthen their enforcement of fouls and ensure the protection of players on the court.
