IMG Academy running back Donovan Johnson, a highly sought-after four-star recruit, has made his college commitment, choosing to play football for the University of Michigan. Johnson, who received offers from over 40 schools, including top programs like Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee, ultimately felt an undeniable connection with the Wolverines during his recent visit to Ann Arbor.

Expressing his excitement about the decision, Johnson shared, "I just couldn't leave and not commit. It was my first time there, so I had to see how I felt, but I just got that feeling up there. The atmosphere, the people, the coaches, the team - it was all like a genuine family. That family atmosphere just made it feel right for me."

Johnson's visit to Michigan was particularly significant, as it allowed him to experience firsthand the sense of brotherhood that he values. As a student-athlete at IMG Academy, where the emphasis is placed on fostering a strong sense of camaraderie, Johnson was delighted to find a similar environment at Michigan. "I loved it up there. It felt like home for me. As soon as I walked in the door up there, I loved it," he noted.

In addition to the welcoming atmosphere, Johnson highlighted the quality of Michigan's coaching staff and their commitment to player development. He acknowledged that the recent addition of Tony Alford, formerly of Ohio State, as an assistant coach played a pivotal role in his decision. "As soon as he went to Michigan, they recruited me harder. I have known coach Alford since my freshman year, and we have a real relationship. I can't even put into words what our relationship is like. It is like he is already my coach."

Michigan's new head coach, Sherrone Moore, has also played an influential role in Johnson's recruitment. The pair has been in regular communication for the past few months, and during Johnson's official visit, they had a productive meeting that reinforced his decision to join the Wolverines. Johnson spoke highly of Moore's involvement, stating, "I love who he is as a person."

For Johnson, the commitment to Michigan represents the culmination of a challenging journey. Last spring, he suffered a torn ACL, an injury that both tested his love for the game and fueled his determination to return stronger. Reflecting on the experience, Johnson shared, "The injury put me in a position to stay motivated and stay disciplined. God is good. I loved the game before. Now, I love it more. I respect the game, the players, the coaches, and what you have to do to be successful."

With his commitment to Michigan, Donovan Johnson has set his sights on making a significant impact on the field as a Wolverine. As he dons the iconic maize and blue, Johnson is eager to contribute to the rich tradition of Michigan football and pursue his dreams at the collegiate level.
