Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was injured during a shooting at a private event in Sanford, Florida, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The Texans confirmed that Dell, who was a bystander at the event, sustained a minor wound and was released from the hospital. He is currently traveling back to Houston.

According to reports, the shooting occurred after an altercation during the event, where a teenage gunman opened fire and wounded a total of 10 people. Fortunately, none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, primarily being treated for gunshot wounds below the waist.

Eyewitnesses informed the law enforcement authorities that the shooting started following a fistfight. It was reported that an individual who was not involved in the initial altercation drew a handgun and began firing at the crowd. However, a security guard quickly responded, subduing the gunman and disarming him.

Law enforcement arrested a 16-year-old suspect, who has been taken to a juvenile detention center. The teenager is facing charges of attempted homicide, firing a weapon in a public place, using a firearm during a felony, and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor.

Tank Dell, who completed his rookie season with the Houston Texans in 2023, had an outstanding performance, accumulating 709 yards and 7 touchdowns. However, his season was cut short due to a broken leg sustained during a game against the Denver Broncos in early December. His rehab progress had been encouraging, and he was actively participating in offseason activities, as confirmed by head coach DeMeco Ryans last month.
