### House Democrat to Introduce Resolution Confirming Trump’s Term Limitations

A House Democrat plans to introduce a resolution aimed at reaffirming that President-elect Donald Trump cannot seek a third term in office. Representative Dan Goldman of New York is behind this move, slated to file the resolution on Thursday.

Even though the 22nd Amendment already stipulates that a president can only be elected twice, Rep. Goldman believes it is necessary to reinforce this limitation specifically for Trump. A copy of the resolution obtained by NBC News highlights that the amendment applies to "two terms in the aggregate as President of the United States" and explicitly mentions that it "applies to President-elect Trump."

The resolution references several instances where Donald Trump, known for his provocative and often joking remarks, suggested he might seek another term or assume dictatorial powers. One notable example cited is his comment after a House Republican Conference meeting, where he quipped, "I suspect I won't be running again unless you say, 'He's so good, we've got to figure something else.'"

The 22nd Amendment clearly restricts any individual from being elected to the presidency more than twice. Despite this constitutional safeguard, there seems to be a push to formally reaffirm its applicability to Trump through this new resolution.

Given the Republican majority in the House, the resolution may struggle to advance to a vote. Nevertheless, NBC News suggested it could be introduced as a "privileged resolution," which would mandate a vote on the matter.
