The attack struck Ben Gurion Street on Monday, causing injuries and significant damage to infrastructure and properties in the area.
Witnesses described the harrowing experience of the rocket strike. One resident remarked, "There was a huge boom, I felt the blast wave, and the house shook." After the explosion, security and rescue personnel quickly mobilized to the scene where a bus and buildings were damaged.
One of the victims, Eran Lansky, recounted his terrifying ordeal. "I own a suit shop. I had just finished helping a family of five minutes earlier. They left the shop, and then the siren started. I was about to leave, and there were two explosions. On the third explosion, it felt like everything flew into my face. I was thrown about ten meters. It exploded right in the shop. Everything went black," he said. Lansky was transported to Beilinson Hospital in serious condition with brain and shoulder hemorrhages.
The attack left several other individuals injured. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedic Yuval Mizrahi described one of the moderately wounded victims: "One of the moderately wounded persons was standing on the street and was thrown ten meters by the blast wave, suffering a limb fracture. Two others were wounded by shrapnel. The seriously wounded woman was under one of the windows that flew off the building and hit her."
Another MDA paramedic, David Katanov, highlighted the extent of the damage: "Some of the wounded took shelter in nearby shops and were hurt by shrapnel. Windows and metal fragments flew from the upper floors."
MDA emergency medic Yaakov Lubinsky provided further details on the rescue efforts: "We arrived with a large team and saw a lot of chaos and destruction. A 54-year-old woman was fully conscious, lying on the road, suffering from shrapnel wounds to her lower limbs. We provided her with life-saving medical treatment, including stopping the bleeding, and quickly evacuated her to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Several people suffering from shock were treated by MDA teams on site."
Initially, there was confusion regarding the cause of the damage, with the IDF and Central District Police offering conflicting reports. It was later confirmed by the IDF Spokesperson that the damage resulted from missile fragments due to an interception.
The rocket attack also caused significant disruptions to the electrical infrastructure, damaging a high-voltage line and affecting power supply to nearby streets. The Israel Electric Corporation dispatched teams to repair the damage and cautioned the public to stay away from areas with exposed electrical wires. A nearby synagogue also sustained property damage.
This incident has left the community of Ramat Gan shaken, as residents and authorities work together to recover from the attack's aftermath.
