### Massachusetts College Police Sergeant Killed in Tragic Thanksgiving Crash

A heartbreaking incident occurred early Thanksgiving morning, claiming the life of Jeremy Cole, a police sergeant at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. Cole, 49, from Exeter, New Hampshire, was involved in a fatal head-on collision on Interstate 95 in Newbury, Massachusetts.

"This is an incredibly difficult time for our department. We are heartbroken by this unimaginable loss. Sgt. Cole was not only a dedicated public servant and prior recipient of a lifesaving award, but also a cherished member of our team," expressed Endicott College Chief of Police Kerry Ramsdell in a heartfelt statement.

The tragic sequence of events unfolded around 11:50 p.m. when the New Hampshire State Police received reports of a wrong-way driver heading south in the northbound lane of I-95 in Hampton. Despite efforts from troopers shadowing the vehicle from the southbound side of the highway, the driver did not stop and continued into Massachusetts.

Massachusetts and New Hampshire State Police tracked the errant driver through the Newburyport area. Law enforcement officers had prepared a tire-deflation device in Georgetown, but the Tesla, driven by a man in his 40s from southern Massachusetts, collided head-on with Cole's Chevrolet Trailblazer in Newbury before reaching the device.

Cole was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Tesla was critically injured and airlifted to a Boston hospital. The crash led to the closure of I-95 in both directions for several hours. Authorities have indicated that the driver of the Tesla is expected to face charges, and the incident is currently under investigation.
