### Shooting Near Legion Field Leaves One Injured, Suspect in Custody

In an alarming event near Legion Field on Friday afternoon, an argument escalated to gunfire, leaving one man injured and another under arrest. The incident took place shortly before 2:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Eighth Avenue West, amidst the gathering crowd for Magic City Classic festivities.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade reported that the conflict began after a man purchased an electronic device from an out-of-town vendor using counterfeit money. Upon realizing the money was fake, the vendor retrieved his item, which led to a physical altercation between the two parties. The confrontation culminated in the suspect shooting the vendor.

Quick to react, officers in the vicinity managed to detain the suspect. The injured vendor was transported to UAB Hospital, where he is expected to recover.

In a separate incident, approximately one hour later, another man was shot in the leg in a residential area of the 800 block of Seventh Street West. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening.
