In a recent development surrounding the tragic shooting incident in Sarasota, Florida, the girlfriend of the suspected shooter has been arrested. Nicole Roberts, 29, was apprehended by Sarasota County Florida deputies on Monday, according to court documents filed in relation to the case.

The arrest affidavit reveals that surveillance footage captured a white Hyundai Elantra in the parking lot next to where the fatal shooting of Tommie Battie IV and the critical injury of Auburn running back Brian Battie took place on May 18. After further investigation, authorities determined that the rental car was registered under Roberts' name.

Investigators discovered that Roberts had driven the car out of the parking lot, following the same direction taken by the suspected shooter, Darryl Brookins, who had fled on foot. The surveillance video also showed the Hyundai parked next to the Manatee River in Bradenton, Florida. In the footage, a female believed to be Roberts was observed exiting the driver's seat, walking down a dock, and discarding an item.

It is alleged that the discarded item was the weapon used in the shooting. Roberts then continued driving north to Tampa, where Brookins was seen exiting the car at an apartment complex with a white shirt wrapped around his head.

According to deputies, Brookins initially fired a gun at the Battie brothers before they retaliated. The court documents state that Brian Battie's injuries are severe, with the possibility of permanent paralysis if he survives. Tommie Battie IV tragically lost his life at the scene.

Brookins' lawyer has argued that his client acted in self-defense. Meanwhile, Nicole Roberts pleaded not guilty to the accessory charges against her during Monday's court appearance.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to gather all the evidence and ensure that justice is served.
