**Track Election Results Live on Your iPhone Lock Screen with Apple News App**
Apple News is pulling out all the stops for Election Day, introducing a convenient feature that allows users to monitor real-time election results directly from their iPhone lock screen. With a critical need for candidates to secure at least 270 electoral votes to win, this new feature helps keep track of pivotal swing states quickly and easily, without the hassle of unlocking your phone.
Accessible through the free News app owned by Apple, the feature is available to all users without requiring an Apple News+ subscription. To activate it, open the News app on your iPhone, and you may see a prompt asking if you’d like to receive live election updates starting Tuesday night. Simply click the "Follow Live" button to enable the feature. If the prompt does not appear, head to the "Today" section of the app under the "Top Stories" banner, where you’ll find another prompt to enable real-time election results.
After turning on the election tracker, you will receive a confirmation that live activity updates have been scheduled. The News app comes pre-loaded on iPhones, but if it’s been removed, it can easily be re-downloaded from the App Store.
With polls set to close Tuesday night and many voting after work, instant results may not be available immediately. Key states such as Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia are crucial battlegrounds for both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in this election.
For users who find constant updates on their lock screen overwhelming, the feature can be turned off anytime by revisiting the News app and tapping the same banner prompt.
