**German Intelligence Warns of Potential NATO-Russia Confrontation by 2030**

German intelligence leaders have sounded alarms about the increasing possibility of a military conflict between NATO and Russia by 2030. Addressing the Bundestag, foreign intelligence chief Bruno Kahl on Monday, emphasized the escalating threat posed by Russia as tensions continue to mount over the Ukraine conflict.

In a parliamentary session, Kahl remarked, "Whether we like it or not, we are in a direct confrontation with Russia," highlighting President Vladimir Putin's strategy to undermine the West. He further warned that Putin is likely to "test the red lines of the West and further escalate the confrontation," suggesting that by the end of the decade, Russia will be capable of launching an attack against NATO.

Newsweek sought comments from the Russian defense ministry, but as of now, no response has been received.

Germany, as a major supporter of Ukraine's military efforts second only to the United States, is facing heightened espionage and sabotage activities by Russia. Domestic intelligence chief Thomas Haldenwang noted an increase in Russian espionage and sabotage in Germany, saying it is growing "both qualitatively and quantitatively" with an apparent willingness to jeopardize human lives. Haldenwang described a recent incident in July where a parcel burst into flames before being loaded onto a DHL cargo plane at Leipzig airport, identifying it as a suspected sabotage attempt. He labeled it a "lucky accident" as it could have resulted in a crash had it gone undetected during the flight.

Military intelligence head Martina Rosenberg added that Russia has been scrutinizing German arms deliveries to Ukraine and monitoring military training and armament projects. All three intelligence chiefs have called for enhanced measures to counter Russian activities within Germany.

Earlier this month, German parliamentarian Sahra Wagenknecht expressed concerns that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine could escalate to a nuclear confrontation. Her concerns echo recent Russian signals about revising their nuclear doctrine, a move connected to what Russian officials perceive as Western provocations in the Ukraine conflict.

In response, NATO launched its pre-scheduled nuclear exercise named "Steadfast Noon." NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the exercise serves as a crucial test of the alliance's nuclear deterrent, sending a robust message that NATO is prepared to protect and defend all of its members from any adversary.

The increasing intelligence reports and military preparations underscore the gravity of the situation, suggesting that the potential for a broader conflict involving NATO and Russia is becoming a more tangible threat.
