An investigation took a tragic turn as Investigator Taylor Bristow, a sheriff's deputy with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in west Georgia, passed away from his injuries sustained during a shooting while serving a search warrant. The incident occurred in Carrollton, a neighborhood located approximately 50 miles southwest of Atlanta, where Bristow was assisting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) in executing a search warrant related to child exploitation and computer crimes. The suspect, identified as Christopher Bly, ran into a residence before opening fire with a handgun, injuring both himself and Bristow.
Tragically, Bristow's injuries proved fatal, while Bly, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. In the wake of this heartbreaking development, a procession will be held at 11 a.m. local time to escort Bristow's body from Grady Memorial Hospital to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab for an autopsy.
