### Georgia Receiver Colbie Young Arrested on Multiple Misdemeanor Charges
Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver, Colbie Young, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, facing misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn child, as per the Athens-Clarke County jail records. Booked at 4:18 a.m., Young's bond was set at $2,500, and he remained in jail for at least four hours after his arrest.
Georgia associate athletic director Steven Drummond issued a brief statement saying, "This is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."
The arrest report details that Young's ex-girlfriend visited his apartment around midnight to discuss their relationship. The situation escalated when she found out that Young was on a call with another woman. According to the report, Young allegedly grabbed her by the arm and ushered her out of the room before locking himself in his bedroom. The situation intensified when Young came out and reportedly squeezed her torso and abdomen which resulted in visible bruises.
The police report noted that the woman exhibited a bruise and discoloration on her lower chest and abdomen along with redness on her side. However, no injuries were found on her arm where she claimed Young had grabbed her. While she initially declined an ambulance, she agreed to be transported to the hospital by the officer.
Young denied any physical altercation when questioned by the police, suggesting that the woman's injuries were not caused by him. His attorney, Kim Stephens, contended, "Colbie Young was arrested last night after he asked his ex-girlfriend to leave his apartment. He did not make physical contact with her in any way that could ever be considered a crime. I expect Mr. Young to be fully exonerated once our investigation is complete and the truth revealed."
This incident follows Young's transfer from Miami after the previous season. He isn't the first transfer receiver to run into legal trouble shortly after joining the Georgia program. In January 2023, Rara Thomas was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges soon after transferring from Mississippi State. Thomas was eventually dismissed from the team after another arrest for battery this summer.
The Georgia Bulldogs have encountered a string of legal issues, with ten players and one staff member arrested for driving-related incidents since January 2023.
