In a shocking turn of events, a pilot flying for Frontier Airlines was arrested at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston. The arrest occurred on Thursday, August 1, just before the scheduled departure of Frontier Airlines Flight 3195 to Dallas-Fort Worth International.
Authorities from the Houston Police Department received information about 45-year-old Seymour Walker, a pilot with Frontier Airlines, being wanted on an assault-family violence warrant in North Texas. Police officers on patrol at IAH were informed that Walker was on board a plane at a specific gate.
Walker, who had been sought by law enforcement in Dallas-Fort Worth, was taken into custody without incident by Houston officers. It was revealed that a warrant had been filed against him by the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety.
Frontier Airlines confirmed the incident in a news release issued on Saturday. The airline explained that due to the arrest, no other pilot was immediately available, leading to the cancellation of Flight 3195. Passengers affected by the cancellation were provided with options including a full refund, credit, or re-accommodation on the next available Frontier flight later in the evening.
In addition to offering compensation to the affected passengers, Frontier Airlines went above and beyond by providing a $100 flight voucher and overnight hotel accommodations as needed. The airline expressed their deepest apologies for the inconvenience caused and reassured passengers that their safety and well-being were of utmost importance.
Seymour Walker has since bonded out of jail. The details surrounding the assault-family violence charges against him have not been disclosed.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining the highest standards within the aviation industry. Frontier Airlines has stated that they will be fully cooperating with law enforcement during their investigation.
