### Macron Warns Netanyahu Against Disregarding U.N. Decisions

French President Emmanuel Macron has cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the dangers of dismissing United Nations directives. This warning came during a recent meeting with Macron’s cabinet ministers, according to French media reports confirmed by a participant.

Macron reminded Netanyahu of Israel's historical context, emphasizing that the country was established following a U.N. decision. Referring to the 1947 U.N. General Assembly vote, Macron pointed out that Israel’s creation was rooted in an international consensus that terminated the British mandate over Palestine and divided the territory into separate Jewish and Arab states.

The exchange between Macron and Netanyahu has been particularly heated amid escalating tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah militant group. This fraught situation has raised alarms about the potential for conflict to spill over into Lebanon, endangering its civilian population.

Recently, Macron's call to halt arms deliveries to Israel during a French radio interview sparked outrage from Netanyahu, who expressed his discontent by declaring "shame" on the French president. Macron’s emphasis on U.N. directives is also related to recent events in southern Lebanon, where Israeli actions have affected U.N. peacekeepers. Forty countries jointly condemned these Israeli actions in a statement issued last Saturday.

Following an incident that resulted in injuries to two U.N. staff members in south Lebanon, Paris summoned the Israeli ambassador to France. Reinforcing Macron’s stance, French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu reiterated the importance of respecting U.N. resolutions. During a television interview, Lecornu highlighted that Israel was indeed created through one of the earliest U.N. resolutions.
