### Trump Nominates Emil Bove for Federal Appeals Court Judge

Former President Donald Trump has put forward Emil Bove, one of his past personal attorneys and a high-ranking official in the Justice Department, for a position as a federal appeals court judge. Trump made the announcement via social media, praising Bove as being "smart, tough, and respected by everyone."

The nomination of Bove to the US Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit is expected to trigger a contentious confirmation process. Democrats on Capitol Hill are likely to inquire into Bove's role in several controversial decisions made by the Justice Department during Trump's administration, which led to significant resignations and firings within the department.

Bove quickly rose to prominence within the Justice Department, becoming a powerful figure shortly after his appointment. Early on, he issued a memo that threatened to take legal action against state and local officials non-compliant with the federal immigration policies put forth by the Trump administration. His influence was further cemented when he successfully led a campaign to dismiss corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, which spurred a wave of resignations among prosecutors in New York and Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Bove was instrumental in the dismissal of eight senior FBI officials and demanded extensive information on numerous FBI employees involved in the investigations of the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot. Currently serving as the top deputy to Todd Blanche, the Department of Justice’s number two official, Bove’s efforts remain concentrated on enforcing Trump's immigration strategies.

Todd Blanche, also a former personal attorney of Trump, expressed his support for Bove's nomination on social media, highlighting Bove's dedication, integrity, and legal acumen. Blanche remarked that Bove’s qualities make him well-suited for the judicial role and extended his congratulations.

Bove is also involved in leading the Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group, a team tasked with scrutinizing current and former prosecutors and FBI employees. He is among several former Trump personal attorneys who have been nominated or appointed to influential positions, including John Sauer, the solicitor general, and Blanche, the deputy attorney general. Other key appointments by Trump include FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

During his tenure as Trump's attorney, Bove was actively involved in defending Trump in federal criminal cases, both of which were dismissed following Trump’s reelection. He also played a role in the New York hush-money case, where Trump was found guilty of 34 charges.

When contacted by CNN, Bove declined to comment on his nomination.
