In a bold move, former President Donald Trump took to social media on Wednesday, asserting his commitment to uphold his constitutional rights and speaking out against a gag order imposed by a New York judge. Quoting American Founding Father Patrick Henry, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Give me liberty or give me death."

Judge Juan Merchan had warned Trump on Monday that he could face jail time if he continued to violate the gag order imposed during his ongoing criminal trial. Despite the potential consequences, Trump made it clear that he would not remain silent. He expressed his frustration in a passionate post, highlighting the disparity in free speech allowances for his opponents while he felt unfairly suppressed.

Trump criticized the judge, stating, "It is hard to sit back and listen to lies and false statements be made against you knowing that if you respond, even in the most modest fashion, you are told by a Corrupt and Highly Conflicted Judge that you will be put in prison, maybe for a long period of time." Merchan had ordered Trump not to make public statements about witnesses, counsel, court staff, the District Attorney's office staff, or their family members.

Notably, Trump also took aim at Judges Arthur Engoron and Lewis Kaplan, labeling them as corrupt in different ways. He claimed that their actions were an attack on the Republican Party and the nation itself, asserting the importance of the First Amendment.

On Monday, Trump had expressed his willingness to go to jail to defend free speech, emphasizing that the Constitution outweighed any personal sacrifice. The former president's strong stance garnered attention on Tuesday's episode of "The View," where co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg discussed the possibility of him being incarcerated.

Trump's Wednesday post paid homage to Patrick Henry's iconic call for liberty during the fight for American independence in 1775. Quoting Henry's words, Trump drew parallels between the oppressive British Empire and what he perceived as an unfair suppression of his freedom of speech.

As the former president continues his legal battles, his defiance against the gag order has intensified the ongoing controversy surrounding his case. The outcome remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Donald Trump is determined to protect and exercise his constitutional rights, willing to face the consequences as he fights to maintain his freedom of speech.
