In a prerecorded video speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump reiterated his unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged" and that Democrats cheated to put President Joe Biden in the White House. However, the facts clearly dispute these allegations.

The election results show that Joe Biden earned 306 electoral votes, while Donald Trump garnered 232, the same margin that Trump received in his victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, which he previously hailed as a "landslide." It is important to note that Biden's tally included 304 electoral votes, as two electors deflected from their pledged support. The victory was achieved through Biden's success in key battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia.

Despite President Trump's relentless claims of massive voting fraud, multiple judges, state election officials, and even an arm of his own administration's Homeland Security Department have refuted these allegations. Investigations into alleged irregularities and recounts conducted in some states reaffirmed the integrity of the election process, with no evidence to suggest widespread fraud.

Trump's repeated insistence on the election being stolen has sparked concerns among experts, who argue that such baseless claims undermine public trust in the democratic process. Moreover, these allegations have the potential to erode confidence in the electoral system, which plays a crucial role in upholding the principles of a functioning democracy.

As the nation continues to grapple with the aftermath of the 2020 election, it is essential to focus on factual evidence and preserve the integrity of the electoral process. It is imperative that claims of election fraud are thoroughly investigated and debunked to ensure the trust and confidence of the American people in future elections.

While former President Trump's claims continue to resonate with segments of his supporters, it is important to reiterate that the facts decisively refute his assertions of a stolen election. The 2020 election results, upheld by multiple authorities and investigations, confirm Joe Biden as the legitimately elected President of the United States.
