In what could be a significant boost to Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, former President Barack Obama is anticipated to endorse her candidacy in the near future, according to sources familiar with the situation. With this endorsement, Obama would join a growing list of influential Democratic leaders who have thrown their support behind Harris.

Despite a close relationship between Harris and Obama, the former president has remained silent on endorsing her, aiming to avoid any appearance of steering the nomination process. However, Obama has been actively engaged with Harris, providing advice and sharing his experiences as she consolidated the support of the Democratic Party.

The latest New York Times/Siena College poll indicates that Harris is in a virtual tie with President Trump, just days after she entered the race. Her ability to swiftly rally the Democratic coalition has helped narrow the significant advantage Trump held over former Vice President Joe Biden not long ago.

An endorsement from Obama would bring Harris the final major piece she needs to solidify her support within the party. Already, prominent Democrats such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Representative Hakeem Jeffries have endorsed her. This backing from Obama would add to the growing momentum behind Harris' campaign.

Furthermore, Harris has been making strides in engaging key voting blocs. She addressed the American Federation of Teachers, expressing her strong support for unions and drawing a clear contrast to Republicans' positions on issues like banning assault weapons. Harris emphasized that this election is a referendum on the former president, rallying support from Black women voters in Indianapolis.

Meanwhile, President Biden, in a televised Oval Office address, explained his decision to withdraw from the race and endorse Harris as his successor. Sitting amidst family photographs, Biden expressed a mix of wistfulness and determination, indicating that he had put the fate of American democracy ahead of personal ambition.

On the other side, President Trump wasted no time in launching attacks against Harris, labeling her as radically liberal and linking her to unpopular Biden administration policies. Harris, in turn, has framed the election as a battle against extremism and a rejection of Trump's divisive agenda.

As the campaign intensifies, speculation has emerged about who will join Harris on the Democratic ticket as her running mate. Democrats are now speculating about potential white, male candidates who could enhance Harris' chances of success in the November election.

In addition, Future Forward, the main super PAC supporting Biden's re-election campaign, has announced a $50 million ad campaign to support Harris in six battleground states. These ads, highlighting her political biography and readiness to lead, will air on television and digital platforms, with a significant portion of airtime scheduled during Olympics broadcasts.

The anticipation is growing as Obama's endorsement of Harris draws nearer. As the missing puzzle piece in Harris' quest for Democrats' unified support, Obama's backing could provide a major boost to her campaign aspirations. However, for now, supporters eagerly await his decision and continue to rally behind Harris as she seeks to secure the Democratic nomination.
