The arrest, which occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, June 14, has been detailed in a police report.

According to the report, the incident began around 2:30 a.m. when a call was made to 911. The caller, later identified as Terry Johnson, stated, "I need someone to come to my house," before abruptly ending the call. Dispatchers made several unsuccessful attempts to call back before finally reaching the caller, who apologized and claimed that nothing had happened.

Upon responding to the scene on 68th Street and Chaparral Road, two officers encountered Payne, who admitted to making the 911 call during an argument with his girlfriend. Payne allowed officers to speak with his girlfriend, who revealed that he had made the call as a bluff to prove a point, threatening to call emergency services if she didn't leave.

During the investigation, Payne initially refused to provide his name and date of birth to the officers. Despite being informed that it was necessary for the investigation, Payne continued to argue with the police, insisting his name was Terry Johnson. After running a record check, which yielded no results, the officers determined that Payne had provided a false identity.

As tensions escalated, Payne remained uncooperative and demanded that the police leave. Attempting to resolve the situation, the officers offered to leave if Payne provided his real name and birthdate. However, Payne defiantly shouted his true identity as Cameron Payne and sarcastically congratulated the officers for arresting him for providing a fake name.

As a result, Payne was immediately placed under arrest and charged with two offenses: refusing to provide a truthful name and giving a false report to law enforcement. He was subsequently booked into the Scottsdale City Jail and later released.

Cameron Payne, who played for the Phoenix Suns for four seasons before being traded a year ago, was recently traded again to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this year. The details surrounding the incident with his girlfriend remain undisclosed.

This arrest marks a setback in Payne's career and highlights the importance of cooperation with law enforcement officers during investigations.
