Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis recently shared a troubling encounter that occurred during a flight over the weekend. In an Instagram post on Monday, Davis detailed how he was detained while traveling from Denver to Orange County, California on Saturday, all because a flight attendant allegedly failed to provide his son with a cup of ice.
According to Davis, the incident began when the flight attendant either didn't hear or ignored his request for a cup of ice for his son, continuing past their row. To get the flight attendant's attention, Davis lightly tapped his arm. However, what followed was shocking.
After the plane landed, Davis claimed that he was placed in handcuffs and surrounded by FBI agents in front of his wife and family. Officials questioned him, but it was ultimately determined that the attendant's accusations were inaccurate. Davis expressed his dissatisfaction with the airline's response, stating that he has yet to hear anything from United Airlines.
"The traumatizing experience of my two sons, my daughter, and my wife watching me being placed in handcuffs - without due process or any explanation - cannot be undone," Davis wrote. He vowed not to stay silent and called for a thorough investigation into the attendant's conduct.
Despite the incident, Davis has largely maintained a low profile since his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017. His social media activity primarily consisted of tweets about his alma mater, Georgia football, and family photos. Monday's Instagram post addressing his detainment was his first public statement since October.
The shocking tale of a renowned sports figure being detained over a cup of ice has sparked attention and concern. Many are echoing Davis' call for a comprehensive investigation into the flight attendant's actions to ensure justice and prevent such deplorable treatment from happening again.
