### Former City Hall Official Charged With Witness Tampering and Evidence Destruction

NEW YORK - Federal prosecutors have charged Mohamed Bahi, a former senior liaison in New York City's mayor's community affairs unit, with witness tampering and destruction of evidence. The charges are connected to ongoing federal investigations into Mayor Eric Adams' administration and his 2021 campaign.

Bahi is accused of instructing individuals to lie to federal agents and deleting evidence from his personal devices that could have implicated him in criminal activities. While the indictment does not specifically mention Bahi's involvement with Adams' 2021 campaign, federal prosecutors have previously pointed to issues such as straw donors and foreign influence in that campaign.

"The charges unsealed today should leave no doubt about the seriousness of any effort to interfere with a federal investigation, particularly when undertaken by a government employee," said Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. "Our commitment to uncovering the truth and following the facts wherever they may lead is unwavering."

This case highlights the mounting scrutiny on Mayor Adams' administration and campaign practices. It underscores the importance of integrity within all ranks of government and serves as a significant development in the broader federal investigation.
