### Florida Man Charged in Alleged Plot to Bomb New York Stock Exchange
CORAL SPRINGS, FL - The FBI has arrested a Florida resident, Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, 30, who is accused of plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange this week. Yener, from Coral Springs, was charged with attempting to use an explosive device to damage or destroy a building engaged in interstate commerce.
The investigation into Yener began in February following a tip that he was storing bombmaking materials in a storage unit. According to the FBI, the unit contained bombmaking sketches, watches with timers, electronic circuit boards, and other electronics potentially usable for constructing explosive devices. It was also discovered that Yener had been researching bombmaking techniques online since 2017.
Conversations recorded by undercover FBI agents reveal Yener's intention to detonate the bomb just before Thanksgiving, targeting the stock exchange in Lower Manhattan. He is reported to have told an undercover operative, "There is one place that would be hella easy ... the stock exchange, that would be a great hit."
Investigators say Yener's motivation for the bombing was to initiate what he called a "reboot" or "reset" of the United States government. He allegedly created audio recordings detailing the demands and reasoning behind his planned attack, at one point comparing himself to Bin Laden.
Yener made his initial court appearance on Wednesday afternoon and will remain detained pending trial. Calls to contact numbers listed for him in public records went unanswered, and no lawyer has been identified in court documents.
This incident is reminiscent of a similar foiled plot in September 2020 when the FBI arrested two men planning multiple attacks in New York City, including one on the New York Stock Exchange.
