A tragic hit-and-run incident in Biscayne Bay, Florida has left a 15-year-old ballerina, Ella Riley Adler, dead. The suspect, 78-year-old Carlos Guillermo Alonso of Coral Gables, claims he had no knowledge that his boat was allegedly involved in the accident, according to his attorney.

Carlos Guillermo Alonso is accused of running over Adler with his 42-foot-long Boston Whaler last Saturday and fleeing the scene. The incident report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) states that Alonso, who was the sole occupant of the boat, collided with Adler while she was in the water celebrating a friend's birthday.

Alonso's attorney, Lauren Field Krasnoff, stated that her client is devastated by the tragedy but was unaware that he was a key suspect when initially questioned by police. Krasnoff emphasized that they have yet to determine if Alonso's boat was indeed involved in the crash. She explained that Alonso, a boater with over 50 years of experience, claimed to have had no idea about the incident and that he docked his boat in plain sight that day.

Krasnoff further revealed that Alonso, a Cuba native who arrived in the US under Operation Peter Pan, has no criminal record and does not drink. She assured the public that Alonso was not drinking on the day Adler was tragically hit.

The FWC is currently conducting an investigation, during which no charges have been filed against Alonso. They have taken his boat to a facility for further examination. The septuagenarian is fully cooperating with the authorities.

Following the collision, Adler's body was retrieved by the boat she had been wakeboarding from, and her friends called for help. Despite their efforts, she could not be saved. Grieving father Matthew Adler expressed his sorrow in an emotional letter read at the funeral, stating that the world had been robbed of all the things Ella could have achieved.

The tragic incident has left the community shocked and mourning, with condolences pouring in for the Adler family. As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to determine the facts surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
