A fire that broke out on the Atlantic City boardwalk has been successfully brought under control by a team of dedicated firefighters. The incident occurred near South Tennessee Avenue at approximately 7 p.m., according to the Atlantic City Fire Department.
The fire originated under the boardwalk and quickly spread to the surrounding area, affecting both the boardwalk and a nearby store. Fortunately, all the businesses on the pier had been closed at the time of the incident, minimizing the potential for injuries.
More than 50 firefighters swiftly responded to the scene and worked tirelessly for several hours to bring the fire under control. Their efforts were highly praised by those who work on the pier, such as Patti Goldberg, a longtime employee at the Central Pier Arcade. "We are very grateful for that because it could have been worse, so much worse, and we will take it one day at a time," Goldberg expressed, acknowledging the valiant work of the firefighters.
Though the fire caused damage to the area, the absence of any injuries was a relief to those involved. Raul Coreas, reflecting on the incident, expressed gratitude, stating, "Thank God no one was there. Everything is fine. It is material, so just try to rebuild and move on."
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, as the incident prompted concerns regarding the safety of the popular tourist destination. While much work lies ahead in terms of rebuilding and repair, the community is resolved to overcome this setback and restore the beloved Atlantic City boardwalk to its former glory.
The Atlantic City Fire Department and the entire community extend their gratitude to the dedicated firefighters who fought diligently to control the blaze and prevent further damage to the iconic boardwalk.
