In a surprising turn of events, search warrants were executed on several members of the Adams administration, including Police Commissioner Edward Caban and top aide Tim Pearson, according to sources familiar with the matter. Earlier on Thursday, the FBI also conducted raids on the homes of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and Deputy Mayor Philip Banks. These investigations appear to be separate from the ongoing probe into Mayor Eric Adams' 2021 campaign.

City Hall Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg issued a statement after news broke about the raids on Banks and Wright, stating that there has been no indication from investigators that the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation. However, she emphasized that Mayor Adams, a former member of law enforcement, has consistently stressed the importance of adhering to the law for all members of his team.

The New York City Police Department's deputy commissioner for public information, Tarik Sheppard, acknowledged the investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York involving members of the police service. Sheppard affirmed that the department is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

This developing story continues to unfold, and further information will be provided as it becomes available. The reasons behind the execution of search warrants on these high-ranking officials in the Adams administration remain undisclosed, leaving residents and political observers eagerly awaiting more details in the days to come.
