**Father of Alleged Georgia School Shooter Pleads Not Guilty to Multiple Charges**
Colin Gray, father of the accused gunman in the tragic September mass shooting at Apalachee High School, entered a not guilty plea on Thursday. He faces numerous charges stemming from the incident that took four lives.
Colin Gray's legal representation appeared in court to submit the plea on his behalf, as he was not present at the hearing. Additionally, his attorneys waived the formal arraignment process. In October, a Barrow County grand jury indicted Gray on 29 counts, including charges such as second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless conduct, as per online court records.
Barrow County District Attorney Brad Smith noted that this case marks a precedent in statewide legal history by charging a parent of a school shooting suspect. Gray's son, Colt Gray, was separately indicted on 55 counts, including four counts each of malice murder and felony murder in the same September 4 incident. Colt Gray, charged as an adult, also pleaded not guilty and waived formal arraignment in October.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Colin Gray had given his son an AR-15-style rifle as a gift, despite prior law enforcement interviews about online threats suggesting plans for a school shooting. This action has become a crucial element in the array of charges he now faces.
