### Father Pleads Not Guilty in Apalachee High School Shooting Case
Colin Gray, the father of the teenager accused in the devastating Apalachee High School shooting that resulted in the deaths of two students and two teachers, has entered a not guilty plea to multiple charges leveled against him.
Prosecutors allege that Colin Gray was aware of his son Colt Gray's obsession with school shooters but did nothing to intervene. In fact, Colin actively facilitated Colt's deadly plans by giving him the rifle used in the attack, as well as a bore sight and ammunition. The tragic incident took place on September 4, in the J hall during the second period, leading to the untimely deaths of teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53, along with 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo. Nine others sustained injuries during the assault.
Colin Gray faces 29 charges, including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. He opted to waive his appearance at the arraignment hearing. Gray's legal team mentioned they have already filed motions and intend to submit additional ones in the coming days, which could leave his indictment sealed.
Further revelations emerged during court proceedings. Investigators testified that Colin Gray had given Colt the AR-15-style rifle as a Christmas gift the previous year. He also admitted he had purchased a larger magazine and other accessories for the weapon upon Colt's request. These disturbing details were substantiated by a GBI agent during an October hearing, who revealed that Colin Gray received alarming texts from his daughter and ex-wife on the day of the shooting. Rather than taking any immediate action, Colin reportedly turned on the news to learn about the school shooting, later discovering the rifle he had given Colt was missing from his son’s room.
Shocking courtroom disclosures painted a grim picture of the events leading up to the tragedy. Colin Gray did not exhibit surprise or immediate remorse when he learned about the shooting, according to investigators. He had also confessed that Colt had shown increasing signs of violence towards him and his mother in recent months before the incident.
Both Colin and Colt Gray face multiple charges in connection to the shooting. While Colt is expected to be tried as an adult and has also pleaded not guilty, prosecutors have decided to try the father-son team separately.
