**Father and Daughter Missing After Hiking Trip in Maine**
An Upstate New York father and his adult daughter have gone missing following a hike in Maine over the weekend. Tim Keiderling, 58, and his daughter Esther Keiderling, 28, were last sighted at Baxter State Park on Sunday, June 1, around 10 a.m. local time as they ventured toward the summit of Katahdin, according to park officials.
The Keiderlings’ car was found at a day-use parking lot on the morning of Monday, June 2, confirmed Baxter State Park in a social media post. Despite extensive searches along various trails in the park, there have been no signs of the missing hikers.
More than 30 officials have joined the search efforts, employing the services of a K9 team, three Maine Forest Service helicopters, and two helicopters—a Blackhawk and a Lakota fitted with thermal imaging technology. However, these efforts have yet to yield any results, and the pair remains unlocated.
The park has informed the public that the search operations will continue during daylight hours, emphasizing that volunteer searchers are not required at this time. To aid the search, both Hunt and Abol Trails have been closed.
Park authorities are urging anyone who was near the summit of Katahdin from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on June 1 to come forward with any possible information. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
