A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday evening in Philadelphia as a 43-year-old man was fatally shot multiple times while on his way to evening prayers at a local mosque. The shooting, described by police as an "execution-type homicide," occurred on the 1500 block of Germantown Avenue just before 5 p.m. ET. The victim was found lying in the mosque's parking lot with severe gunshot wounds to his chest, torso, and head. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small revealed that surveillance footage captured the shocking attack, showing the victim walking towards the mosque with another male when the suspect, clad in dark-colored clothing, approached from behind and opened fire from close range. The shooter fled the scene and remains at large. The victim's companion was unharmed during the incident.

Authorities retrieved seventeen shell casings at the scene, indicating that a large caliber semi-automatic weapon was used in the shooting. The suspect is believed to have escaped in a dark-colored sedan with a replacement or donut tire on the right front passenger side. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, and the victim's identity has not been released.

Chief Inspector Small mentioned that additional surveillance footage and witness accounts are being reviewed by the police as they continue to investigate this tragic incident. This remains a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
