Authorities have released new pictures of 43-year-old Billy Reed Fletcher, an escaped inmate from Tennessee, who was last seen at a Walmart in Greenville, South Carolina. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) sent out an alert on Sunday, providing details about Fletcher's escape and subsequent sighting.
Fletcher reportedly escaped the Carter County Detention Center in Tennessee on June 20. He was later spotted leaving the Walmart on Whitehorse Road in Greenville County on June 24. Standing at 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 230 pounds, Fletcher has blue eyes and brown hair, according to SLED.
The Carter County Sheriff's Office revealed that Fletcher had walked off from work detail at the Carter County Jail. He was being housed at the facility for violating probation and was previously serving time for attempted aggravated burglary. Authorities suspect that Fletcher may be connected to a missing person case in Tennessee.
SLED has confirmed that search efforts for Fletcher took place on Wednesday night, July 3, in the area of Whitehorse Road and Toby Lane, near the Long John Silver's and Walmart where he was last spotted on June 24. However, the public is advised not to approach Fletcher but to immediately call 911 if they encounter him.
