### Elon Musk Avoids Politics but Voices Government Critique in CBS Interview
In a recent interview with "CBS Sunday Morning," Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, was hesitant to delve into political matters unless it was to express his grievances. The interview began smoothly enough until Musk deflected questions about President Donald Trump’s ongoing tariff issues and the administration's stance on international students. It was evident that Musk preferred not to engage in contentious political discourse.
Despite his initial reluctance to discuss political topics, Musk did not shy away from sharing his unfavorable views on the government. He candidly compared the government to an overgrown DMV, hinting at inefficiency and bureaucracy. "My opinion of the government is that the government is just like the DMV that got big," he stated. "So when you say, ‘Let's have the government do something,’ you should think, do you want the DMV to do it?"
The interview took a nuanced turn as Musk tiptoed around his disagreements with the Trump administration. While he acknowledged that he agrees with much of what the administration does, he admitted there are significant differences of opinion. "You know, it's not like I agree with everything the administration does. So it's like, I mean, I agree with much of what the administration does, but we have differences of opinion," Musk mentioned.
His reluctance to criticize the administration directly was evident, as he pointed out the potential for creating friction. "It’s difficult for me to bring that up in an interview because then it creates a bone of contention," he said, adding that he’s caught in a bind where he avoids speaking against the administration but also doesn't want to bear responsibility for all its actions.
Musk’s comments came just after President Trump praised him during an Oval Office ceremony, emphasizing Musk's transformative impact on traditional business practices in Washington. Sporting a black eye, a black shirt that read "The Dogefather," Musk received a ceremonial key from the president and reassured that his projects would thrive even in his absence. "I think the DOGE team is doing an incredible job. They're going to continue to be doing an incredible job," he concluded.
