### Elon Musk Claims He's Leaving Politics, Expresses Frustration Over Government Spending Cuts

Elon Musk wants the world to know he's distancing himself from his recent role in the Trump administration. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, recorded while Musk was still serving under the former president, the SpaceX founder showed visible discomfort when policies of the Trump era were brought up, diverting the discussion towards his space ventures.

When pressed on topics such as Trump's tariffs and the Department of Homeland Security's initiatives targeting foreign students, Musk quickly shifted gears. "I think we want to stick to the subject of the day, which is, like, spaceships as opposed to presidential policy," Musk explained to CBS' David Pogue. Pogue, however, reminded him that no topics had been off-limits for the interview.

Despite attempts to dodge political queries, Musk did eventually reflect on his government tenure. Highlighting how he felt unfairly treated after making significant cuts to federal programs, the billionaire lamented over the backlash he faced. His cost-cutting measures led to more than 25,000 federal employees losing their jobs, earning him the resentment of many.

"If there was some cut, real or imagined, everyone would blame DOGE," Musk remarked, referring to the derogatory term he claims critics used. Even so, he stood by his belief in reducing government size. "I'm like a proponent of smaller government, not bigger government," he clarified. Musk acknowledged that those who favor expansive governmental programs would naturally oppose his actions, stating, "they'll be fundamentally opposed to that because they just think the government should do more things."
