**Elon Musk Intensifies Criticism of Trump's Tax Bill, Advocates for Rejection**
Elon Musk has intensified his critique of President Donald Trump's extensive tax-cut bill, urging lawmakers to reject what he deems a fiscal catastrophe. Musk began his vehement condemnation a day earlier, calling the bill a "disgusting abomination" and warning that its passage would lead to "debt slavery" for America.
On Wednesday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to his social media platform, X, rallying citizens to contact their Senators and Representatives to oppose the legislation. "Bankrupting America is NOT ok!" Musk wrote emphatically. He proposed drafting a new bill that wouldn't dramatically increase the national deficit or expand the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, a figure he finds intolerable.
Musk's campaign against the bill features more than two dozen posts criticizing the financial implications and related issues such as the national debt. This offensive follows closely on the heels of Musk's departure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he had briefly served to help shrink government operations.
Part of Musk's motivation to denounce the bill comes from a cut in the electric vehicle tax credit, which significantly impacts Tesla. A source familiar with the situation told NBC News that this provision partly influenced Musk to use his platform to rally against the bill.
Despite their past cooperation, this barrage of criticism from Musk highlights an increasing divergence between him and the Trump administration. Notably, Musk had discussed extending his role as a special government employee but was declined by the White House. Additionally, the administration rejected Musk’s proposals related to the Federal Aviation Administration and NASA appointments.
Former President Trump, who commended Musk during his farewell at the White House, has yet to comment publicly on Musk's aggressive opposition. However, Trump's account on Truth Social reposted a screenshot of Musk's thank-you message to the president for his leadership role in DOGE, signifying lingering mutual respect despite the current discord.
