In a tragic turn of events, Eric Adams, the man responsible for a series of shootings in North Las Vegas on Monday night, had recently completed domestic violence counseling. The 8 News Now Investigators have discovered that 47-year-old Adams shot and killed five people, while also injuring a teenager, before taking his own life as police closed in on him.

Court records reveal that Adams had a history of domestic violence convictions, including a case in 2023 where he was ordered by a judge to attend counseling for a year, pay a fine, and complete community service. At the time of his death, Adams still owed $301 in connection to this case.

Earlier this year, North Las Vegas police issued an arrest warrant against Adams for domestic violence charges, including domestic battery by strangulation. However, the case was ultimately dismissed before a preliminary hearing in April.

Going further back, in 2007, Adams was arrested by Las Vegas Metro police for robbing and assaulting a woman. He held her at gunpoint, demanding her coat and stealing her cash. Adams was subsequently sentenced to 16-48 months in prison.

It is crucial to note that as a convicted felon, Adams was legally prohibited from owning firearms. However, on Monday night, officers found two women, one in her 40s and one in her 50s, dead in a second-floor apartment from apparent gunshot wounds. Another victim, a 13-year-old girl, was also discovered in critical condition and rushed to the hospital. Further investigation led police to three additional victims in a separate unit directly below, including two women in their mid-20s and a man in his early 20s, all dead from gunshot wounds.

On Tuesday morning, police issued a warning stating that Adams was armed and considered "extremely dangerous." Residents were advised not to approach him if spotted. Adams was ultimately located at a business on the 1500 block of Lake Mead Boulevard. In an attempt to evade capture, Adams fled into the backyard of a residence on Dwayne Stedman Avenue near MLK Boulevard and Balzar Avenue. Despite repeated verbal commands from officers to drop his weapon, Adams chose to end his own life instead.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the victims' names once their families have been notified. North Las Vegas police have urged anyone with information about the murders to contact them at 702-633-9111. Individuals can also provide anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visiting crimestoppersofnv.com.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of domestic violence within our communities and highlights the importance of early intervention and support services for victims and offenders alike.
