In an exciting development for baseball fans, Diamond Sports Group and Comcast have reached a carriage deal that will come into effect today. This agreement encompasses all of Diamond's regional sports networks, which means that fans of the Angels, Braves, Brewers, Cardinals, Guardians, Marlins, Rangers, Rays, Reds, Royals, Tigers, and Twins can now catch their favorite team's games on the Xfinity Ultimate TV package.

The deal between Diamond Sports Group and Comcast had hit a hurdle back in May, resulting in Comcast discontinuing the carriage of Diamond networks. However, negotiations have successfully concluded, and the networks will now be available as part of a higher-tier subscription. Existing Xfinity customers who upgrade their package before August 30 will receive the enhanced service free of charge for three months, allowing them to watch their teams compete without any extra cost until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the deadline to sign the players selected in this year's draft is also fast approaching. Set for 5 PM ET today, the majority of the 2024 draftees have already inked contracts with their respective clubs. However, there are a few notable names that have yet to finalize their deals. Among them are Trey Yesavage, a right-handed pitcher from East Carolina, selected by the Blue Jays at No. 20 overall, and Vance Honeycutt, an outfielder from North Carolina, chosen by the Orioles two picks later.

According to Jim Callis of MLB.com, a handful of players from the top 10 rounds remain unsigned. This includes Tyler Bell, a left-handed pitcher selected 66th overall by the Rays, Chris Levonas, a prep shortstop taken at No. 67 by the Brewers, Ryan Prager, a lefty from Texas A&M selected by the Angels at No. 81, and Jaxon Jelkin, a right-handed pitcher from Houston picked by the Mets at No. 263. It is unlikely that these players will sign, but there may still be opportunities for them in the later rounds.

On the injury front, the Mariners' right-handed pitcher, Gregory Santos, suffered an injury during yesterday's game against the Red Sox. Manager Scott Servais revealed that Santos exited the game due to a biceps injury and is scheduled to undergo an MRI upon the team's return to Seattle. Santos, who was acquired from the White Sox earlier this year, recently made his debut with the Mariners after recovering from a lat strain. However, his performance has struggled, posting a 6.75 ERA in 5 1/3 innings while striking out just 20.8% of batters faced. It remains to be seen if Santos will need to return to the injured list.

Lastly, the Angels' infielder, Luis Rengifo, is facing a setback in his recovery from inflammation in his right wrist. Manager Ron Washington revealed that Rengifo experienced a "flare-up" of the same injury, and the club will re-evaluate his condition before determining the next steps. Rengifo had spent three weeks on the injured list last month and has only played in eight games since returning. This news adds to the frustrating string of injuries for the Angels, as Mike Trout's rehab assignment was halted due to a setback, and Anthony Rendon returned to the injured list with back inflammation. In Rengifo's absence, the Angels will likely rely on Luis Guillorme and Michael Stefanic at third base, alongside Brandon Drury at second base, and Zach Neto at shortstop.

Baseball fans can now rejoice as the Diamond Sports Group and Comcast deal ensures broader access to an array of thrilling games, while teams and draftees scramble to finalize contracts before today's signing deadline. Meanwhile, injuries continue to pose challenges for teams like the Mariners and Angels, putting depth players in the spotlight as they step up to fill the gaps left by key roster members.
