In a shocking development, a deputy from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and his wife have been arrested by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office for allegedly illegally accessing information related to the investigation of a carjacking incident. The case involves the disappearance of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero de Aguasvias, a Homestead woman who was carjacked at gunpoint in unincorporated Seminole County.
The carjacking incident, which took place last Wednesday at an intersection, was captured on cellphone video. Tragically, authorities believe that Guerrero de Aguasvias' body was discovered in a burned-out car at a construction site in Osceola County. However, detectives are still working to make a positive identification. The carjackers responsible for the heinous crime are currently at large.
During the course of the investigation conducted by the Seminole Sheriff's Office, Deputy Francisco Estrella and his wife were apprehended for reportedly illegally accessing information related to the case. Investigators discovered that the couple were friends with Aguas-Viva's husband and suspect that they posed as detectives to gain access to crucial details. Moreover, they are accused of unlawfully accessing a database containing the addresses and photos of the real detectives involved in the investigation.
The connection between Estrella and his wife to the victim's husband came to light when Guerrero de Aguasviva's husband voluntarily handed over his phone to investigators. As a result of their alleged actions, Estrella has been charged with five felonies in connection to the case. He recently appeared in court and is claiming law enforcement exemption.
In a separate development, law enforcement authorities discovered a green 2002 Acura, believed to have been driven by one of the carjackers involved in Guerrero de Aguasviva's case, abandoned at an Orange County apartment complex. This vehicle is also potentially connected to another murder that occurred the day prior to the suspected death of Guerrero de Aguasviva, according to Seminole sheriff's investigators.
The Seminole County Sheriff has commended Guerrero de Aguasviva's husband for his cooperation throughout the investigation. At present, he is not considered a person of interest in his wife's kidnapping and suspected death. However, authorities have stated that their focus may shift as the investigation progresses.
This distressing case continues to unfold, as law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to apprehend the carjackers and bring justice to Katherine Altagracia Guerrero de Aguasvias.
